About the Work
“In our jointly composed work Ikirouta (Permafrost, 2020), the theme is the thawing of permafrost as a result of global warming. This phenomenon disrupts the balance of nature in many ways.
Cities built on permafrost may collapse; water pipes and oil pipelines are at risk; and bacteria and viruses long trapped in the frozen ground may awaken.
According to researchers, the thawing of permafrost could also trigger a vicious cycle, as the greenhouse gases released from the soil further accelerate climate warming.”
